Dusan Tesevic lives and works in Sarajevo, but he likes to spend his free time in the family house in Ustikolina. The house was built in the 1980s, and it was difficult to heat it, which makes staying in it expensive and uncomfortable.
Dusan decided to improve the energy efficiency of the house through the GEFF programme for the Western Balkans by investing in thermal insulation and a pellet stove.
The value of the investment in high-quality green technologies approved by EBRD experts was EUR 5,700. This smart investment provided Dusan with an EU incentive in the amount of EUR 1,000.
The family house from Ustikolina now achieves savings of 6 MWh per year, it is warm and more comfortable to stay in. In addition, the use of pellet stoves is more practical, pellets are a many times more efficient fuel than wood, and environmental pollution is reduced.
The GEFF programme for the Western Balkans is supported by the European Union (EU), the Federal Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Austria and the Western Balkans Investment Framework in cooperation with the Energy Community Secretariat (ECS).
