GEFF supports energy efficiency improvements of street lighting for twenty municipalities in Hungary through an ESCO scheme, partnering with ENERIN and delivering 46% in energy savings with a EUR 208,500 investment.

ENERIN, the company contracted to install street lighting and maintain it in twenty municipalities, is a specialist in the area of complex energy saving and energy cost reduction solutions. It has 10 years of experience in electrical and gas utility development, public lighting projects, development of co-generation units as well as in renewable energies.

The company addressed the Municipal Financing Facility for Energy Efficiency (MFFEE) and its participating bank for financing of this project. The MFFEE  team supported the company with analysis of the proposed technology, the potential for energy savings and the financial-technical parameters of the project.

EMERIN secured a loan of EUR 208,500 towards the development and maintenance of energy efficient street lighting involving the replacement of 2,370 lighting armatures in twenty municipalities. Due to high calculated energy savings of 46%, EMERIN was able to receive an incentive of 20%, or EUR 41,700 from the European Union.

The project resulted in substantial energy savings of 251,510 kWh per year; this is equivalent to 130 tons/year.

This facility was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is supported by the European Union (EU).
