Modernization of a production plant by investing in high-end, efficient equipment.
Founded in 1957, COLORADO is a Moroccan industrial company has been established in Morocco since 1957 specialized in the manufacturing and the distribution of paints, coatings and varnishes industry part of the construction value chain. COLORADO has been involved in continuous improvement of its production chain and develops several new products with high added value every year. Its products are exported to Africa, Europe, and Asia.
To recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and prepare for the next surge in paint and coatings market demand from the automotive, building and manufacturing industries, COLORADO invested in the modernization and renovation of its production plant in Casablanca, the new investment consists of rearranging the production workshop to gain in terms of flow (reduction of diesel consumption) and to replace old mixers and an old production line by new efficient ones, thus, reducing electricity consumption. The new efficient equipment is imported from Europe and guarantees both high productivity and reliability ensuring products consistency and quality.
This implementation of this investment benefiting from technical assistance and financing provided by Green Value Chain enabled the company to further improve its productivity and competitiveness, thanks to a reduction in energy consumption estimated to 247 MWh/year, a reduction of GHG emissions of 138.6 TCO2/year compared to the existing equipment and savings of 4,960 L/year of diesel.
Green Value Chain (GVC) in Morocco is a credit facility of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to provide funding to local partner financial institutions for on-lending to Moroccan SMEs belonging to agribusiness, processing industries and logistics value chains and ecosystems. Supported by the European Union, the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Korean Technical Assistance and Cooperation Account (KTACA) and the EBRD Shareholder Special Fund (EBRD SSF), the facility aims to improve competitiveness of SMEs and that of their value chains and ecosystems through highly efficient green investments.
