A new energy-efficient molding machine allows PROMEAT GROUP CORP LLC to increase production capacity while reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions, contributing to a more sustainable and efficient meat processing industry in Uzbekistan.
PROMEAT GROUP CORP LLC was founded in 2003 and has since become a key player in Uzbekistan’s meat processing industry. Based in Tashkent Region, the company employs 102 people and generates an annual turnover of approximately UZS 53 billion. PROMEAT specializes in producing high-quality meat products, including cutlets, sausages, and other processed meat items. Given the increasing demand for processed meat products in Uzbekistan, improving efficiency and production capacity is crucial for meeting market needs.
To enhance its operations, PROMEAT invested $39,264 in a Hollymatic Super Patty Forming Machine from the USA. This modern equipment replaced an outdated molding machine that was energy-intensive and had limited capacity. The investment was financed through the GEFF programme in Uzbekistan, with $27,485 provided as a loan through Uzbek Leasing International JSC. Additionally, the company benefited from free technical assistance from GEFF experts, ensuring optimal equipment selection and energy savings.
The new molding equipment has delivered significant improvements. Energy consumption has been reduced by 44%, lowering electricity usage from 2,048 kWh per year to 1,152 kWh per year. Carbon emissions have also decreased, cutting annual CO₂ output by 0.5 tonnes. The company’s production capacity has increased from 135 tonnes to 180 tonnes per year, allowing it to meet growing demand while maintaining high product quality. The investment has also resulted in additional revenues of $31,500 per year, significantly improving the company’s financial performance. With a payback period of just 1.2 years, the investment has proven to be both economically and environmentally beneficial.
With the successful implementation of this energy-efficient technology, PROMEAT GROUP CORP LLC is strengthening its position in Uzbekistan’s food industry while contributing to a more sustainable and resource-efficient economy.
The Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) in Uzbekistan was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is supported by the EBRD’s Shareholder Special Fund, the Taiwan Business – EBRD Technical Cooperation Fund, and the Federal Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Austria.
