A new energy efficient heating system allowed a private entrepreneur from Zharkent to reduce heating costs
Usipzhan Ashimov is a citizen of the small city of Zharkent, Almaty region. He has been engaged in a cargo transportation business for more than 20 years. He transports coal and livestock between the villages. Several years ago, a man took out a micro loan from the Microfinance organization (MFO) “KMF” to buy a cargo truck. Usipzhan learned about the Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) programme from the EBRD from his loan expert. He became very interested as it was long-stand need to buy a gas boiler for his house. On Usipzhan’s opinion, this program was just a real catch for him. The MFO “KMF loan expert provided effective support in advising on the loan terms of this program and helped with the choice of an energy-efficient boiler from Green Technology Selector. Usipzhan purchased a gas boiler of a German producer. Usipzhan said that in the nearest future he plans to purchase the energy-efficient plastic windows under the Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) program from the EBRD.
“I also received the incentive in the amount of 10 % of the cost of the boiler,” – said Usipzhan Ashimov.
This project was supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance.
