Firuza Isatayeva owns a small grocery store in the village of , in the Tolebi district of Turkestan region of Kazakhstan. She has been in business for over 10 years. Firuza regularly uses micro loans provided by the Microfinance organization (MFO) “KMF”. The client’s credit history is more than 7 years. This time she needed a refrigerator for her grocery store. Firuza was advised by a credit expert to take advantage of the green micro loan under Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) programme from the EBRD since it turned out to be the most beneficial and profitable for her business. In addition, she was informed of the opportunity to get an incentive in the amount of 10% of the cost of the refrigerator. Within a week Firuza chose an eligible model from the Green Technology Selector. Finally, she purchased a refrigerator of the Korean producer and installed it in the store.

Firuza says: “Thanks to long-term cooperation with the MFO “KMF”, I have increased the turnover of my business. In three weeks I have got an incentive in the amount of 10% of the cost of the refrigerator, which I was actually pleased with”.

This project was supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance.
