New energy efficient windows for a residential house in Almaty city

A Kazakh entrepreneur from Almaty owns a small company that sells kitchen appliances. In 2019, he began building a house for his family. From the very beginning, the man decided to install only energy-saving windows. Initially, it was necessary to find a suitable company that would make such windows for him.

The man approached a major manufacturer of energy efficient windows in Almaty. There he has been told that they are partners of GEFF Green Economy Financing Programs from the EBRD. Under this program, any buyer purchasing windows for personal needs and borrowed funds from a financial partner could receive a 10% incentive for manufacturing and installation of windows. The entrepreneur became interested in this offer and decided to participate in the program. He selected the eligible windows from  Green Technology Selector and applied to Microfinance organization (MFO) “KMF” to get a purchase loan. It took just a couple of weeks to produce the windows. After installation, the man submitted documents for verification. Three weeks later, a loan officer called him and informed him that incentive in the amount of 10% of the total cost of windows and the cost of delivery and installation had already been transferred to his bank account.

“I am grateful to the GEFF Program for the unique opportunity to make a useful and profitable purchase for my home, as well as receive incentive for 10% of all window costs. The new energy efficient windows in my house are not only an increase in comfort but also an environmental concern. I would advise all my friends to use the GEFF program as well”.

This project was supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance.
