Acquisition of a high-performance refrigerated semi-trailer for refrigeration

Established in 2022, Expo Med Transport is a Moroccan SME specializing in international road transportation of goods, particularly in refrigerated transport of fruits and vegetables to all of Europe.

In order to meet the growing needs of its customers, Expo Med Transport sought the assistance of the Green Value Chain team for the acquisition of a new 3-axle refrigerated semi-trailer equipped with refrigeration units from the Thermo King SLXI 300-50 series.

This new semi-trailer will be equipped with an insulated body specifically designed for the storage of goods during transportation. The refrigeration unit, responsible for maintaining a low temperature, will be installed on the exterior walls of the insulated body.

The refrigeration unit to be acquired is from the Thermo King brand. It is a model designed to be fully equipped with the “integrated telematics” functionality, achieved through the installation of the TK BlueBox communication system on each unit.

The implementation of this project results in a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 1.9 tons of CO2 equivalent per year and saves approximately 601 liters of diesel, corresponding to a 45% reduction each year.

Green Value Chain (GVC) in Morocco is a credit facility of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development(EBRD) to provide funding to local partner financial institutions for on-lending to Moroccan SMEs belonging to agribusiness, processing industries and logistics value chains and ecosystems. Supported by the European Union, the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Korean Technical Assistance and Cooperation Account (KTACA) and the EBRD Shareholder Special Fund (EBRD SSF), the facility aims to improve competitiveness of SMEs and that of their value chains and ecosystems through highly efficient green investments.
