TurSEFF loan is helping a Turkish textile company generate clean energy and reduce carbon emissions through the installation of a rooftop solar power system, with PV panels selected from Green Technology Selector (GTS).

Nopaş Textile, initially Nipaş Pazarlama, began yarn production in 2013 with 2,320 rotors. In 2015, it expanded to the Ring Compact facility in Kahramanmaraş, now operating with 14,592 spindles and a monthly yarn production capacity of 220-250 tonnes.

To reduce its dependency on grid electricity, cut operational energy costs, and support Türkiye’s green energy transition, Nopaş decided to install a rooftop solar PV system.

The TurSEFF team advised company about alternative and cos-effective ways to realize this investment. The team helped the company in using Green Technology Selector, and to select the optimum pre-approved equipment from the tool.

With a total investment of €356,512 in 2021, the 1,004 kWp rooftop solar PV system is expected to generate 1,175 MWh of electricity per year. This will help the company reduce energy bills, improve operational efficiency, and enhance competitiveness.

The rooftop solar installation is estimated to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 423 tonnes annually, contributing to climate change mitigation and improved air quality.

Türkiye Sustainable Energy Financing Facility (TurSEFF) was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is co-funded by the European Union (EU), the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Treasury and Finance (MoTF), and supported by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MoENR).
