TurSEFF loan is helping Turkish textile in green transition through the installation of a rooftop solar power system, with PV panels selected from Green Technology Selector (GTS).

Nopaş Textile, initially Nipaş Pazarlama, began yarn production in 2013 with 2,320 rotors. In 2015, it expanded to the Ring Compact facility in Kahramanmaraş, now operating with 14,592 spindles and a monthly yarn production capacity of 220-250 tonnes.

To reduce dependency on grid electricity, decrease operational energy costs, and align with Türkiye’s green energy transition, Nopaş decided to install a rooftop solar PV system on its factory building in the Kahramanmaraş Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ).

In 2021, the company, having previously benefited from TurSEFF technical assistance for another project, applied to TurSEFF again with a new project due to their satisfaction. The TurSEFF team advised company about alternative and cos-effective ways to realize this investment. The team helped the company in using Green Technology Selector, and to select the optimum pre-approved equipment from the tool.

With a total €880,813 financing by TurSEFF, the 2,480 kWp rooftop solar PV system is expected to generate 2,902 MWh of electricity annually. This will help reduce the company’s energy bills, improve operational efficiency, and increase competitiveness.

The rooftop solar power plant is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 1,045 tonnes per year, contributing to mitigation of climate change’s negative impacts and improved environmental quality.

Türkiye Sustainable Energy Financing Facility (TurSEFF) was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is co-funded by the European Union (EU), the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Treasury and Finance (MoTF), and supported by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MoENR).
