Replacement of old production machines leads to substantial energy savings
Nobil d.o.o. is the unique mattress producer in Bosnia and Herzegovina supplying the raw materials for its production. With the new cutting machines, machines for profiling and sewing, Nobil is the best equipped mattress manufacturing company in the region. Nobil applied to WebSEFF to finance replacement of its production equipment, with further reduction in energy consumption and improvement of the production process.
The WebSEFF team performed investment analysis, assessed the potential of energy savings, project financial-technical parameters and risks.
In frames of the project, Nobil replaced nine old production machines with new and energy efficient ones.
The $230,865 investment allowed the company to decrease its energy costs by $103,553 per year. This means the investment will repay itself out of energy savings in just two years, leaving the cash-flow as an income for the company in the subsequent years. The production process has also become more smooth and with less maintenance costs.
This project demonstrates once again that energy savings are possible in all types of industries and sectors, while energy and cost savings might be substantial.
This way, through WebSEFF the EBRD supports the sustainable financing and implementation of energy efficiency projects by the private sector. Together, the private, residential and public sectors can make a change in the energy consumption patterns and contribute to the environmental protection.
This project was supported by the European Union.
