Replacement of Rotary Printer & Steamer for a Garment Manufacturer

Dice ready-made garment was looking to reduce its operations costs through reducing energy consumption and operations hours.

Dice is an Egyptian textiles manufacturer specialized in manufacturing of knitted garments for men, women, and kids. The company owns a major share in the undergarment market in Egypt, as well as a large share in the international export market.

As part of their energy saving plans, the company replaced an existing rotary printer with two new efficient ones. In addition to an old steamer that was replaced with a new energy efficient steamer. The new stammer and printer helped the company reduce energy expenses and increase production out-put.

The GEFF team evaluated the efficiency characteristics of the printer and steamer and confirmed that their performance was in line with the best available technologies internationally. In addition to assessing the economic viability of the installation, the GEFF team also provided an assessment of the potential environmental benefits associated with the investment.

The US$ 1,418,954 investment is expected to reduce overall energy consumption by the equivalent of 3,271 MWh per year. This resulted in increased production out-put and reduced energy expenses and operations hours.

The reduction of greenhouse gases associated with this investment is estimated at 654 tonnes of CO2 per year, a valuable contribution to mitigating the negative impacts of climate change.
