Resource-saving and energy-efficient digital LED screens have replaced printed billboards in the cities of Almaty and Astana

JSC “RTS Deco” is a joint venture (hereinafter “the Company”) organised by the international company JCDecaux, has been operating in the Kazakhstan market since 2000. The Company is offering services on the placement of the outdoor advertising on billboards owned by the Company.

The company learned about the Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) from the EBRD in the JSC “Shinhan Bank”. The loan manager informed the Company’s representative about the terms of the GEFF program as well as the possible of financing the purchase of energy-efficient, resource-saving equipment and technologies with credit funds. The Company was considering a project on replacement of printed advertising billboards with environmentally friendly digital LED screens to enable the reduction of energy consumption by 76%. Old billboards consumed more electricity to light up screens and heat electric engines during the cold season. The main advantage of new digital LED screens is energy saving as they are equipped with auto brightness control mode that functions depending on the length of daylight. The use of digital LED screens eliminates the printing of advertising posters, significantly impacting the waste reduction and the carbon footprint. The online content management system allows reducing CO₂ emissions, as it does not provide for site visits of technical experts.
