New forklift has 52% less specific energy consumption
Ficus Trade SRL is a wholesaler of soft and alcoholic beverages the city of Braila, eastern Romania. To decrease energy consumption, the company decided to replace an old forklift truck used for commodities handling and dating from 1991 with a new high energy efficiency one.
The company addressed RoSEFF for financing of this project and the RoSEFF team performed analysis of the proposed technology, its potential for energy savings, financial-technical parameters and the profitability of the project.
The €13,500 investment allowed the company to increase production capacity by 95% and decrease specific energy consumption by 52%, from 0.9 to 0.43 litres per tonne of products. The investment will be repaid from energy savings alone in just 5 years, while its effect will be felt as soon as the forklift truck starts work.
The investment demonstrates that energy efficiency measures are possible and profitable not only in the production industries, but in service and trading industries as well.
This way, the EBRD and RoSEFF support the sustainable financing and implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects by the private sector. Together, the private, residential, and public sectors can make a change in the energy consumption patterns and environmental protection.
This project is supported by the European Union (EU).
