Roto House for Printing is a leading producer of high-quality packaging materials in Egypt and the Middle East. Specializing in Rotogravure and Flexographic printing, the company serves diverse industries such as snacks, biscuits, and confectionery.

To reduce costs and minimize environmental impact, Roto House secured a $2.52 million loan through GEFF Egypt to install a Solvent Recovery Unit—a system that captures and reuses Ethyl Acetate solvent used in printing. The project was also eligible for a 10% investment incentive ($252,465) for achieving over 20% greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction.

With two rotogravure presses in operation, solvent use was substantial. The new recovery system now allows Roto House to:

  • Recover 74% of previously lost solvent—about 1,120 tonnes annually

  • Save $2.31 million per year in operational costs

  • Reduce GHG emissions by 10,000 tonnes tCO2eq

These improvements come as Roto House expands its operations to meet growing market demand. The investment enhances environmental performance, supports cost efficiency, and reinforces the company’s commitment to sustainable growth.

Beyond financial and environmental benefits, the project has also:

  • Created new job opportunities

  • Improved workplace health and safety standards

GEFF Egypt supported Roto House not only with financing but also with free technical advice, helping assess the feasibility and compliance of the project with EU-aligned green investment standards.

The Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF), was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is financially supported by the EU, EIB and AFD.
