TurSEFF loan is supporting a rooftop solar PV system in Karaman, with the solar panels selected from the Green Technology Selector (GTS).
Semet Ambalaj is a leading plastic manufacturer in Karaman. The company specializes in the production of plastic packaging films, including LDPE films, sealing tapes, and hot melt tapes.
The company decided to generate clean energy through rooftop solar power at its facility located in Karaman Organized Industrial Zone, to reduce its dependency on grid electricity, lower operational costs, and to contribute Türkiye’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
In 2021, TurSEFF provided finance to the project, and accordingly, the TurSEFF team advised company on alternative and cost-effective ways to realize this investment with a capacity of 1,081 kWp. The team helped the company in using Green Technology Selector, and in selecting the optimum pre-approved equipment from the tool.
As a result of the total investment of €391,425, the plant is expected to save 1,319 MWh of electricity per year. This will significantly reduce the company’s energy costs.
In addition, it is estimated that the system will reduce approximately 475 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, and this investment aims to contribute to mitigating the negative impacts of climate change and to sustainable industrial development.
Türkiye Sustainable Energy Financing Facility (TurSEFF) was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is co-funded by the European Union (EU), the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Treasury and Finance (MoTF), and supported by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MoENR).
