A local furniture producer improves energy reliability and cuts emissions through a solar PV investment supported by GEFF
JAYXUN PE is a locally owned enterprise based in the Romitan district of Bukhara region, operating in the furniture manufacturing sector. The company produces furniture for the domestic market and plays an important role in the local economy by providing stable employment and supporting regional value chains.
Over recent years, JAYXUN PE has been steadily expanding its production capacity in response to growing demand. Furniture manufacturing is an energy-intensive process, requiring continuous electricity supply for woodworking machinery, cutting, pressing, finishing and other production stages. As operations grew, electricity consumption increased significantly. Dependence on grid electricity exposed the company to power outages, voltage fluctuations and rising tariffs, creating operational risks, production delays and higher costs.
To address these challenges, JAYXUN PE decided to install solar photovoltaic panels in order to reduce dependence on grid electricity, lower energy costs and ensure a more reliable power supply for its production operations.
With financing support from the Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) obtained through Hamkorbank, JAYXUN PE invested in the installation of a 710 kW on-site solar PV system. The system allows the company to generate a significant share of its electricity needs directly at the production site.
As a result, JAYXUN PE has reduced its dependence on grid electricity, improved the stability of its manufacturing operations and lowered energy costs. The investment also delivers strong environmental benefits, helping the company avoid 488 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year, which is equivalent to the annual carbon absorption of more than 8,000 trees, and reduce primary energy consumption by 11,862 GJ annually, comparable to the yearly electricity use of around 350 Uzbek households.
The Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) in Uzbekistan was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is supported by the Canada through the EBRD’s High- Impact Partnership on Climate Action – HIPCA, the Climate Investment Fund and the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (Project Donors).
