TurSEFF loan supports electricity generation from landfill gas project in Çanakkale, promoting clean energy and environmental sustainability.

SUEZ Çanakkale RR Atık Hizmetleri A.Ş. (Waste Management Services) was founded in January 2019 with the purpose of owning and operating the landfill gas plant in the province of Çanakkale.

SUEZ Çanakkale has been operating a 1.2 MWe landfill gas power plant already, the company plans to extend their operation by purchasing an additional 1.2 MWe gas engine to produce electricity and sell it to the grid.

To this end, in 2022, the company, having partnered with TurSEFF, decided to undertake the investment through TurSEFF in order to benefit from the engineering, financial, and marketing services provided alongside the financing (technical assistance package).

The investment was implemented with €1,012,710 TurSEFF financing,  and as a result of the investment, the plant is expected to generate 1.2 MWe electricity annually. This project is important for environmental and energy-supply sustainability.

This green energy project is expected to reduce the carbon emissions up to 78,868 tonnes per year and planned to contribute to mitigating the negative impacts of climate change.

Türkiye Sustainable Energy Financing Facility (TurSEFF) was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is co-funded by the European Union (EU), the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Treasury and Finance (MoTF), and supported by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MoENR).
