Installation of a high efficiency windows, heat recovery unit and insulation of ceilings allowed Olha Ruban’s house become a modern example of a comfortable and energy-independent building.

Olga’s house is located near Vyshgorod, Kiev region, Ukraine. The building has 2 floors with a total area of 140 m2. The family initially decided to build a high-quality building that meets all modern requirements.

In order to finance the project Olga’s family turned to OTP Bank to get a loan. As a result, over 2 years 4 loans were received in the amount of about UAH 300,000 (equivalent to €9,594) under the EBRD’s IQ Energy programme. Thanks to loans, projects were implemented to install high-efficiency windows from a 6-chamber profile with a 3-chamber glazing window, which is a rather rare decision due to its high cost. At the next stage, the roof was insulated with mineral wool insulation 200 mm thick. Then installed a central ventilation system with heat recovery.

In addition to the 4 projects described, an air-water heat pump was also installed using the program. Relatives helped to take a loan for him.

IQ Energy team performed the project feasibility analysis by reviewing the application, confirmed that planned EE project is eligible and in line with program requirements. Once the equipment was installed, the IQ Energy team verified the quality of installations.

Thanks to the project, the young family did not have to compromise and sacrifice quality or comfort. The use of energy-efficient technologies made it possible to experience a significant economic effect, since the energy consumption of their housing was reduced by more than half.

Vadym Ruban client’s husband said: ” We live in the house we dreamed about. Due to the possible (and ultimately received) compensation under the IQ Energy program, we made the choice on the most energy-efficient technologies. ”

An additional advantage of the project for homeowners of neighboring houses is the availability of an example and a source of reliable information about the benefits of implementing energy-efficient measures.

IQ Energy was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is supported by the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership Fund (E5P)  and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.
