Waste Recycling into Alternative Fuel by Bio Energy

BioEnergy is looking to increase its competitiveness and production efficiency through installing a new shredding unit into its production line.

Bio Energy for Supplies Co. is one of the pioneers in alternative fuel production from Municipal Solid Waste in Egypt. The company was established in 2012 with the purpose of supplying Refused Derived Fuels to cement manufacturing plants to reduce their coal consumption.

The company is improving its competitiveness and increasing its production efficiency and capacity through introducing a new shredder to its production line.

The GEFF team performed the project analysis, assessed the potential of energy savings, financial-technical parameters and risks.

The US$ 111,967 investment allowed the company to improve its production efficiency and increase its production capacity from 350 tonnes per day up to 550 tonnes per day.

The reduction of greenhouse gases associated with this investment is estimated 11,440 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year, a valuable contribution to mitigating the negative impacts of climate change.

GEFF Egypt was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is supported by the European Union Neighbourhood Investment Facility.
