Optimising the use of water re-sources saves financial resources and enables further growth
Founded in Georgia’s Kakheti region in 2014, Shtori Ltd has quickly established itself as a strong player in the local agriculture sector, specializing in the cultivation of corn.
Despite their expertise, Shtori Ltd encountered a challenge: the essential need for efficient irrigation. Faced with this challenge, the company started searching for a solution that could optimise their water usage and guarantee a steady and plentiful corn harvest.
In 2023, the management opted to invest in a pivot irrigation system. This investment was made possible through the support of GEFF in Georgia, enabling the company to receive a detailed analysis of their project’s potential, conducted by GEFF experts. It offered insights into the volume of water and energy savings, anticipated monetary gains, and emissions.
The new irrigation system allows Shtori to annually save up to a substantial $30,000 in operational costs.
“These savings provide us with the financial capacity to explore and invest in additional sustainable technologies, such as a solar PV station. The pivot irrigation system not only enhances our crop yields but also aligns with our vision for a more environmentally friendly and economically viable agricultural industry.” – Mamuka Kobakhidze, Director of Shtori LTD
The project is supported by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF).
