TurSEFF loan is helping Yapılcanlar Group generate clean energy through a biogas power plant using agricultural and livestock waste as input.
Yapılcanlar Group operates in the electricity, agriculture, tourism, and fuel sectors. Their renewable energy portfolio includes both solar PV plants and biogas facilities, supporting a diversified and sustainable energy strategy.
The company aimed to expand its renewable energy portfolio, reduce environmental pollution caused by agricultural waste, and generate sustainable income from clean energy. They also sought to utilize cattle manure from their own livestock operations and partner farms efficiently.
The investment was supported through TurSEFF, which blends financing with technical assistance in 2018. Project consultants performed energy assessments, financial-technical evaluations, and risk analyses to ensure project feasibility.
The biogas power plant includes one gas engine with an installed capacity of 1.067 MW and expected to result in an energy generation of 7,103 MWh annually. The project aims to enable waste-to-energy conversion while preventing uncontrolled landfilling and supporting environmental sustainability.
This green energy project is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 3,921 tonnes per year and help preserve soil and water resources by avoiding the improper disposal of livestock waste.
Türkiye Sustainable Energy Financing Facility (TurSEFF) was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is co-funded by the European Union (EU), the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Treasury and Finance (MoTF), and supported by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MoENR).
