Belgrade, October 11, 2024 – More than 80 representatives of businesses from various sectors gathered at the workshop “Green Financing Opportunities”, organized by GEFF Serbia Leasing and the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce. The aim of the event was to introduce entrepreneurs to financing options for green transition and the implementation of sustainable technologies in business, with a focus on specific steps toward transitioning to a green economy.
Opening the conference, Vidosava Džagić, Assistant Director of the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the importance of financing the transition to green business practices for Chamber member companies, as it impacts the competitiveness of domestic products in global markets, business performance, and overall quality of life. Miloš Lukić, Assistant Director at EBRD, in his opening speech, highlighted that GEFF Serbia Leasing is designed for businesses, entrepreneurs, registered agricultural households, and other privately-owned economic entities in Serbia, and supports projects aimed at improving energy efficiency, resource use, and the application of renewable energy sources in business operations.
GEFF Serbia Leasing: A Pathway to the Green Economy
During the first part of the workshop, experts from GEFF Serbia Leasing, Aleksandar Ranđelović, Leasing Expert, and Rastko Mladenović, Engineer, provided an in-depth presentation of the GEFF programme. Through concrete examples and an explanation of the Green Technology Selector, they demonstrated how entrepreneurs can use GEFF funds to purchase energy-efficient and environmentally friendly equipment. Eligibility criteria and the application process were also discussed.
A key moment of the workshop was a best practice example presented by Mladen Kuparić from VAILLANT, one of GEFF Serbia Leasing’s partner vendor companies, registered on the Green Technology Selector. He spoke about the application of heat pump technology and how this technology reduces CO2 emissions and contributes to global sustainability.
Green Financing in Practice
During the second part of the workshop, Erste Leasing, a partner financial institution of GEFF Serbia Leasing, showcased its experience in implementing the GEFF leasing line and the results it has achieved in financing green projects. Representatives from Erste Leasing, Nenad Bukatarević, Director Sales, and Sanja Prvulović, ESG Specialist, emphasized that green financing not only helps protect the environment, but also increases the competitiveness and energy efficiency of businesses.
At the end of the workshop, Mirjana Živanović, Administrator of the GEFF Serbia Leasing line, demonstrated step-by-step practical application of the Green Technology Sector, which allows businesses to easily familiarize themselves with high-performance technologies approved by GEFF. The discussion that followed the presentations provided space for additional questions and exchange of experiences among business representatives, with a particularly important conclusion: the green economy is not only necessary but also a sustainable business model for the future.
GEFF Serbia Leasing (Green Economy Financing Facility), developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and supported by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the Government of Luxembourg (GoL), is part of the global Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) programme.
