Technology Workshops adopt a highly practical and knowledge-driven agenda. During these sessions, Mr. Usmonkul Boturov (Deputy Project Manager, GEFF Tajikistan) explained the technical benefits of modern greenhouses with drip irrigation systems. Building on his extensive experience as a trained agronomist, he explained the various types of greenhouses, pros and cons of each model as well as efficiency gains from these investments. Other experts also presented on details such as required materials for construction, maintenance and expected yields.
Tajik farmers expressed interest in understanding the experience of greenhouses in other regions and neighboring countries, selection principles regarding the location of greenhouses, materials used, expenses incurred and payback period. These queries were addressed directly by the GEFF Tajikistan Project Consultant team.
In Boktar city, a field visit to greenhouse in Gairat district was organized. Participants were able to familiarize themselves with the design and construction features of greenhouses and drip irrigation systems. They also learnt more about common maintenance problems and how to resolve them.
”Such events provide a great networking opportunity for farmers like myself, vendors and financial institutions, which strengthens the business case for green investments”, remarked Mr. Usmonov Husniddin, a farmer from the Tursunzade district.
GEFF Tajikistan actively supports the uptake of green technologies in the agricultural sector through organizing meaningful outreach events that build awareness and fosters a green community in Tajikistan.
