What are demo plots?

Under the GEFF II Tajikistan programme, demonstration plots are established — real sites that showcase how modern green technologies work under local conditions. Demo plots are an effective tool to practically demonstrate the benefits of energy-efficient solutions and show their impact on resource savings and sustainable business growth.

Such projects can cover various sectors — from agriculture to processing, industry, construction or services — depending on the directions supported by the programme and the relevance of the projects for the region.

How demo plots are funded

A key advantage of a demonstration plot is that it is 100% funded by the programme, within a defined financing limit that must be considered when planning the project.

Support is provided to cover costs related to the purchase, installation, and commissioning of new equipment, technologies, and measures. The main requirements for projects nominated as demonstration plots are that the technologies must be innovative, energy/resource-efficient, easily replicable for wider dissemination among potential borrowers, and suitable for Tajikistan’s specific needs and climatic conditions.

How to participate

For detailed information on how to apply and the evaluation process for creating a demonstration plot, interested participants should contact the programme office or reach out to GEFF II consultants by phone.

Potential applicants will need to prepare and submit a structured table outlining their proposed investment plans. This table should include key parameters such as the proposed technology, project scale, and the expected impact of implementation. Early submission of this information enables the partner financial institution and the GEFF II team to conduct a remote pre-assessment and select projects with the highest potential for further detailed evaluation.

The partner financial institution, supported by the GEFF II team, will carry out an in-depth assessment of the most promising innovative solutions and projects. Based on this evaluation, an objective decision will be made to select the beneficiary for creating a demonstration plot that fully meets the established selection criteria.
