On 8 April 2026, in Jaloliddin Balkhi district, the GEFF II Tajikistan programme, in cooperation with Humo Bank, conducted a training seminar titled “Women in Greenhouse Business: Opportunities for Women Farmers”.
The event brought together over 32 women farmers, along with representatives of GEFF II Tajikistan, Humo Bank, and green technology suppliers.
The seminar aimed to raise awareness of greenhouse business opportunities and promote women’s entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector. During the session, participants were introduced to modern energy-efficient and resource-saving technologies, as well as requirements and opportunities for accessing financing.
Special attention was given to the economic aspects of greenhouse farming, including crop selection, investment costs, and potential returns. Modern green solutions were also presented, such as drip irrigation systems, solar technologies, and efficient water management tools.
Participants were introduced to practical case studies of successful implementation of green technologies within greenhouse farms under the GEFF II Tajikistan programme. These examples demonstrated increased productivity, higher income levels, and reduced costs through more efficient use of resources.
Green technology suppliers showcased solutions related to greenhouse construction, drip irrigation systems, and solar energy installations. Participants had the opportunity to explore technical solutions and ask practical questions directly to experts.
The GEFF II Tajikistan programme is implemented with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance, and the Republic of Korea, contributing to expanded access to sustainable finance and the development of a green economy in the country.
