As part of the GEFF II Tajikistan programme, a series of training sessions was organized to enhance competencies in sustainable agriculture and green finance among students specializing in agricultural disciplines. The trainings were conducted at the Tajik Agrarian University named after Shirinsho Shotemur, bringing together graduates of профильных faculties and young professionals interested in the development of the agricultural sector.
The events were implemented as part of a joint initiative between the GEFF II Tajikistan programme and KSM Agriculture & Farming Co., Ltd. (Republic of Korea), with the participation of international expert Dr. Su-Man Kim and support from the Institute of Biotechnology. This format enabled the integration of scientific, technological, and financial knowledge with international expertise to prepare specialists capable of effectively addressing modern challenges in the agricultural sector.
The primary objective of the trainings was to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills in sustainable agriculture, resource-efficient technologies, modern agri-tech solutions, and green financing mechanisms. The programme covered key topics such as climate and environmental risks in agriculture, energy efficiency improvement, the implementation of soil- and water-saving technologies, and the application of innovative solutions, including the use of artificial intelligence in agriculture.
Particular attention was given to the study of the agricultural production value chain, including modern potato cultivation methods—from in vitro laboratory technologies to field production.
Participants also gained insights into the green technologies supported under GEFF II Tajikistan and the available financing opportunities. Throughout the trainings, participants actively engaged in discussions, asked questions to experts, and exchanged views on the practical implementation of sustainable solutions in the agricultural sector. Such educational initiatives contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of young professionals, strengthening their readiness for professional activities, and building the human capital of the country’s agricultural sector.
The GEFF II Tajikistan programme is implemented with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Green Climate Fund, the Ministry of Finance of Austria, and the Republic of Korea, contributing to the development of sustainable agriculture and expanding access to green finance.
