(As part of our coverage of the Technology Workshops Series, we held a short interview with one of the vendors Jamshed Sanginov, Commercial Director of NCC “Sarob” after the workshop.)
Project Consultant (PC): ‘What technical aspects of the technologies did you present at this workshop?
Vendor Jamshed Sanginov: ‘We introduced greenhouses in general, as well as its main models and producers. We also discussed key technical aspects such as the appropriate orientation of the greenhouses, height, ventilation, type of greenhouse depending on the crop and season, delivery as well as installation terms.‘
PC: ‘In your opinion, what did the audience find most interesting?’
Vendor Jamshed Sanginov: ‘There were many questions during the presentation about how to correctly build greenhouses and its benefits. Tursunzoda is one of the main regions where greenhouse investments are growing in the country. It shows the readiness of farmers to test new technologies and farmers were very open to share their current experience and challenges with other fellow farmers. Many even asked questions during the breaks. I think most of them found something interesting from my presentation.’
PC: ‘Could you share with us to what extent seasonality plays a role in your business?’
Vendor Jamshed Sanginov: ‘The winter period is an optimum time to invest in technologies like greenhouses because it is the typical period for construction. In summer, farmers are busy cultivating open fields. The demand for drip irrigation systems is correlated with investments in greenhouses. It is often installed at a slightly later stage, once the greenhouse is built.’
Project Consultant: ‘How does the Technology Workshops add value to your business activities?’
Vendor Jamshed Sanginov: ‘The GEFF Tajikistan program is the leading program in Tajikistan to scale up adoption of green technologies in the agricultural sector. The link is forged between business, finance and technology through this workshop. It creates a strong case for the farmers and agri-enterprises to take action. We are very thankful to GEFF Tajikistan for giving us the opportunity to inform farmers about our products and share on the benefits of innovative technologies.’
The GEFF Tajikistan Technology Workshop Series are held with the support of Partner Financial Institution MDO Humo. It aims to raise awareness of modern, resource efficient technologies. The use of climate resilience technologies by farmers and agribusinesses reduces their operating costs, saves energy, water and other related resources.
