Institutional capacity building is a core component of the GEFF Tajikistan program. We prioritized equipping GEFF Partner Financial Institution (PFI) Humo with the right knowledge and skills with the activation of the credit line. We delivered a series of introductory trainings for more than 300 MDO Humo staff during December 2019. Type of training: Classroom No. of trainings: 18 sessions in Sugd, Khatlon, Districts of Republican Subordination and DushanbeNo. of participants: 317 (Female: 58); from Bokhtar, Istaravshan, Jaykhun, Shahritus, Spitamen, Isfara, Kulyab, Dangara, Tursunzade, Panjakent, Jomi, Vahdat, Gassar, Khujand and Dushanbe cities Types of attendees: Loan Officers, Head of Credit Units, Branch Managers
We developed a tailor made introductory training program based on a training needs assessment to identify existing gaps and how target KPIs can be reached. The introductory training session covered the following core components:
Target segments
Facility eligibility criteria and eligible technologies
Green investment procedures
Effective portfolio screening
Sales and client acquisition techniques
The training program allows PFI staff to identify, assess and manage sub-loans, eligible for GEFF financing in agricultural, commercial and residential sectors.
The trainings were also an effective channel to collect feedback from the branch personnel. The feedback enabled us to better adapt procedures, information and process workflows for the project. Through the training sessions, > 300 branch and head office middle management have gained a better understanding of the GEFF financing procedures, eligible technologies as well as client acquisition techniques.
PFI training and capacity building activities are a core part of our ongoing effort to ensure that green finance become an integrated and permanent aspect of financial institutions’ daily business practices. It scales up climate financing in Tajikistan while also making PFIs more resilient to climate-related financial risks.
