GEFF II Training for ICB in Khujand: Strengthening Professional Skills in Sustainable Finance
In June 2025, a training session was held in the city of Khujand for employees of the branch of CJSC “Investment Credit Bank” (ICB) as part of the Green Economy Financing Facility Phase II (GEFF II). The event brought together 13 professionals, including five women, and focused on enhancing practical knowledge and building competencies in green finance—one of the key pillars of sustainable development in the banking sector.
The training program covered several important topics, including:
The promotion and implementation of green technologies among clients as a means of increasing energy efficiency and reducing environmental impact;
GEFF II sub-project eligibility criteria, support standards, and policy guidelines;
Verification procedures, documentation requirements, and coordination with technical experts;
Gender-sensitive approaches, which are increasingly integral to modern financial programs and help expand access to finance for women and vulnerable groups.
Delivered in an interactive format, the training featured case studies, group exercises, and discussions addressing real-world challenges. Certified GEFF II experts led the sessions: Parvin Jabborov (Lead Engineer), Mirzokurbon Pochoev (Agronomist), and Zebunisso Ghaffori (PFI Liaison Expert). They shared advanced knowledge and practical tools accumulated from GEFF II implementation across different regions of Tajikistan.
The GEFF II program in Tajikistan is implemented by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), with financial support from the Green Climate Fund, the Republic of Austria, and the Republic of Korea. Through such trainings, GEFF II contributes to the development of a more environmentally sustainable economy and the capacity-building of financial institutions across the country.
