The gender awareness trainings provided PFIs’ staff an opportunity to explore key gender concepts, discover whether gender-based inequities existed and learn about the importance of gender-balanced green portfolio. In particular, a number of issues were highlighted, such as the introduction of gender-specific approaches and the opportunities for gender activities within the project to enhance women’s and men’s equal opportunity to access to finance for green technologies. At the same time, the importance of strengthening of education and awareness raising activities among women were highlighted to support progress in the promotion of gender egality.
Separate sessions were organized for female clients of our PFIs on financial literacy topic. The participants learned about climate change impact on the agricultural sector and available green technologies for adaptation to climate change in this sector.
During the trainings the participants had interesting discussions on how to improve access to green finance for Tajik women. The PFIs and clients shared their experiences and provided proposals, that could be used in our future activities.
“Gender equality and women’s empowerment are the basis of our work in the in the field of financing green technologies. We aim to reduce gender inequality and provide women with equal access to finance to strengthen their resilience to climate change” said Mr. Kairat Shalabay, GEFF Tajikistan Project Manager.
The trainings will help our partners to take a fresh look at established gender roles in relation to women and understand their role in achieving gender equality and to overcome gender knowledge gaps which will positively impact our future portfolio. Gender equality is a key enabler for sustainable transition and inclusive growth, along with the preservation and improvement of the environment. Capacity building in gender awareness is a great point to strengthen our project commitment to manage our operations in a gender sensitive and inclusive way.
