Efficiently made parts for produced for Uzbekistan’s national car industry

An Uzbek company located in Andijan region invests in a highly efficient wood plastic composite board production line for interior car parts with a GEFF loan, which will generate energy savings of 43%.

Since 2003, the Uz-Metertech LLC produced gas meters for domestic installations – and this activity is also the origin of the company name. Between 2008-2009, the company diversified into the production of automotive parts and moved to a bigger factory in the Andijan Region. During this time, the company installed injection molding machines and a complex paint line to produce parts for the”Uz-DAEWOO avto” company. The company’s current production capacity is over 1,400,000 units per year. Production is carried out in a factory with a total area of 32,420 m2, and the product range now includes interior parts for Chevrolet Spark, Nexia and Cobalt Series of cars.

‘Uz-Metertech’ implemented ISO 9001: 2009, ISO / TS 16949: 2009 quality management system and is regularly assessed and is dedicated to continuous improvement of the company’s processes.  Recently the company decided to purchase a new production line in order to produce wood plastic composite boards for Chevrolet. The total investment is US$ 373,000, of which US$ 144,646 was financed with a GEFF loan.

The GEFF team performed the project analysis, assessed the potential of energy savings, financial-technical parameters and risks.

The new equipment consumes less energy (188 MWh/year) and generates water savings of 9,425 m3, compared to the baseline.

The new equipment also led to a 100 tonnes CO2 reduction  in GHG emissions per year, making a valuable input towards mitigation of negative effect of human activity on climate.
