GEFF Egypt’s participation in the Climate and Investment Forum on September 12, 2023, was of a great significance, with Mr. Emad Hassan moderating an an executive plenary session on derisking and catalyzing investments from an environmental and climate perspective. The session included H.E. Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, Mr. Khaled Hamza, Head of EBRD Egypt, Mr. Hesham Okasha, Chairman of NBE, Dr. Dalia El-Hawary, Deputy Chairman of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones and senior representatives from the World Bank and the European Investment Bank. The one day forum was under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah EL Sisi and inaugurated by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly.
A major highlight of the forum was the launch of Egypt’s climate and environment investment platform, underscoring the nation’s resolute commitment to sustainable development. Throughout six sessions, the forum presented a package of promising investment opportunities for the private sector in several areas, including sustainable energy, waste recycling, eco-tourism, the bio-based economy, sustainable agriculture, and food production.
During the plenary session, Mr. Emad Hassan’s role as moderator played a pivotal role in steering discussions on vital topics, including regulatory frameworks, key investment opportunities, and the views of the development partners in catalyzing green investments. His expertise and guidance added depth to the conversations, enriching the forum’s overall discourse.
The GEFF Egypt team’s active involvement in industry relevant events significantly contributes to the advancement of sustainable investments within the framework of Egypt’s climate and environmental agendas. Furthermore, it sharpens the focus on the efforts made by EBRD and its development partners to support the green transition path in Egypt.
