GEFF joins the discussion onsustainable tourism investment at African Tourism Forum
(English) On November 11, 2023, GEFF participated in the African Tourism Sustainability & Investment Forum, a side event held as part of the Intra-African Trade Fair in Cairo from November 9 to 15.
Emad Hassan, the Team Leader of GEFF Egypt, joined the panel titled “Investment Potential in the African Tourism Sector.”Emphasizing the significance of public-private collaboration, the panel focused on key themes such as exploring infrastructure investments, discussing financing strategies for sustainable tourism projects, and identifying opportunities in emerging tourism markets. During his presentation, Emad Hassan shed light on the initiatives undertaken by GEFF and the EBRD to promote eco-friendly and inclusive tourism development.
The panel attracted a diverse audience of over 50 participants, including representatives from local and international businesses, as well as politicians with a shared interest in tourism activities. A notable point of the discussion was the keen interest in sustainability-oriented projects and the associated challenges of securing affordable funding. This provided a key moment for GEFF to inform the audience about viable options it offers for financing sustainable tourism practices.
GEFF Team Leader highlighted how leveraging the GEFF services could support SMEs to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly and inclusive tourism experiences. The event served as a platform for fostering dialogue on the future of sustainable tourism in Africa and establishing connections among stakeholders committed to advancing the industry.
