On 15 July, an online event entitled “Possibilities for participating in the green technology sector, Poland – Georgia” and organised by the Polish National Chamber of Commerce was held. The main purpose of the event was to strengthen the bridge between the Georgian and Polish business sectors and to showcase the advantages of using green technologies in their operations.
Green technologies play an important role in developing a sustainable economy, as they are crucial tools in reversing or adapting to the effects of climate change, which threaten the livelihood of businesses and of households. High-performing technologies, such as energy-efficient equipment, solar power stations or drip irrigation can help minimise these effects as well as help businesses and individuals consume resources available in an efficient manner.
In efforts to promote the use of green technologies and showcase the benefits, the Ministry of Climate and Environment of the Republic of Poland presented their programme “GreenEvo – Green Technology Accelerator”. The activities carried out within the programme stimulate sustainable development and strengthen the position of innovative green technologies in the establishment of a circular economy.
Up to 40 business representatives from various sectors, including construction, production, and hospitality, also had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the various green technologies available through GEFF’s Green Technology Selector (GTS). The online platform includes more than 18,000 best-in-class technologies available under GEFF financing on a local and global scale. Machinery, various types of equipment, heating and cooling systems, efficient lighting, and irrigation systems are just some of the categories within the GTS that can offer businesses reduced operational or utility costs, an improved work environment as well as help minimise their negative impact on the environment.
As highlighted by the Head of the Georgian Energy Development Fund, Giorgi Chikovani, Georgia is committed to developing a more sustainable economy. The popularisation of green technologies and the promotion of renewable energy sources can help Georgia accelerate towards this goal.
After the main part of the online event, online business meetings between Polish and Georgian companies were also held.
