Technical Eligibility Criteria
Renewable energy and energy efficiency equipment on the Green Technology Selector (GTS) is eligible without further technical eligibility assessment required.
For “Complex” renewable energy and energy efficiency projects that entail equipment and materials not in the GTS, the GFF Project team will assess your project to determine if it is eligible. Eligible sectors and types of projects include:
Commercial projects:
- RE/EE Brownfield Investments the modernisation, upgrading, improvement or rehabilitation of existing installations, plants and other facilities, or new installations that directly replace existing installations. Eligible brownfield energy efficiency investments (excluding buildings) shall include investments in materials, equipment, appliances and technologies that enable reduction in energy consumption and/or improve energy use. Energy efficiency investments shall achieve energy savings of at least 20% when compared to the relevant brownfield baseline within the project boundaries.
- RE/EE Greenfield Investments at new sites or in existing facilities where the vast majority of the plant and equipment is new. The baseline for greenfield investments are the minimum energy efficiency national standards defined for the given type of technology or processes with performance of prevailing technologies on the local market used as the baseline. Eligible investments shall demonstrate a substantially lower carbon intensity or energy intensity against a benchmark defined based on available documentation for the global or regional top 20% of efficient production.
Building sector projects:
- RE/EE investments in new buildings may be eligible
- If the performance of the buildings shall achieve a minimum certification level of LEED (Silver), BREEAM (Good), EDGE (Standard), or a minimum of one EPC class above the existing minimum national requirement applicable for new construction of buildings, and at level of minimum EPC class B.
- RE/EE investments existing buildings may be eligible:
- On the basis of individual building components or technologies available on the GTS; OR
- If the investment meets the same criteria as listed under New Buildings, above, e.g., LEED (Silver), BREEAM (Good), EDGE (Standard), or a minimum of one EPC class above the existing minimum national requirement); OR
- If primary energy performance of the building is reduced by at least 30% compared to baseline performance, via any combination of energy efficiency and renewable energy measure.
Transport sector projects:
Sub-projects involving electric vehicle charging infrastructure are eligible, as are vehicles meeting the requirements in the table below:
