EBRD GEFF and Fondi Besa meet Tirana building coordinator administrators
The Municipality of Tirana opened its doors to welcome the EBRD GEFF during an introductory meeting held to present to the building coordinator administrators the possibilities to make Tirana apartments energy efficient.
The EBRD GEFF team together with representatives of Fondi Besa presented the programme and the opportunity to get up to 20% EU grant for green investments in their apartments.
Apartments in Tirana usually have no insulation, old windows and inefficient cooling/heating so the potential to better the living conditions and reduce energy bills is huge. The Municipality of Tirana was pleased to present to the building administrators how EBRD GEFF could help families to make their homes more comfortable both in summer and winter and at the same time lower energy costs.
Twenty-five building coordinator administrators were informed which investments are eligible, how to apply for the Green Loan Fondi Besa is providing under the EBRD GEFF and how the residents can get a grant of up to 20%. In turn, they will inform the tenants in the respective buildings and help them prepare the necessary documents.
The financing is provided under the EBRD’s €85 million Western Balkans Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF). The programme is a joint initiative of the European Union (EU), bilateral donors and beneficiary countries cooperating under the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) and is implemented in partnership with the Secretariat of the Energy Community. The Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance will provide incentives and technical cooperation in support of green technology investments.
The GEFF programme operates through a network of more than 130 local financial institutions across 26 countries supported by almost €4 billion of EBRD finance. This has enabled more than 120,000 clients to save a total of almost 7 million tonnes of CO2 emissions a year.
