One of the first clients who received a green finance loan under the GEFF program was Taldykorgan entrepreneur Svetlana Shin.
Svetlana works in public catering, owns a network of cafés “Tim&Ko”, her café has been operating on the market for more than five years and is popular among residents of the city. For Svetlana cooperation with Microfinance organization MFO “KMF” has been the first credit experience.
One of the cafés had a broken refrigerator that could not be fixed or repaired. Svetlana found out from her friends that in the MFO “KMF” it is possible to take a loan for household appliances and also to receive incentives equal to 10% of the purchase price.
Svetlana decided to use this opportunity and to upgrade the equipment in her café. She contacted the city office of MFO “KMF”. An MFO “KMF” credit officer at the store helped her to select the refrigerator that met the energy efficiency criteria of the GEFF program and the customer’s requirements. The purchase price of the refrigerator is 240 490 tenge.
In November 2020, Svetlana signed a loan agreement with the MFO “KMF”. Then using this money she bought a refrigerator of the LG/GA-B459SEQZ brand, which met energy efficiency criteria and was in the Green Technology Selector and installed the refrigerator in her cafe. She provided the relevant documents for verification, and after three weeks, received incentives under the GEFF program in the amount of 10% of the refrigerator cost.
The client was very pleased in cooperation with MFO “KMF”. “Everything went very quickly, easily, without any difficulties, – says Svetlana – besides that, I received compensation from GEFF”. The donor of compensation is the Green Environment Facility. Further, Svetlana plans to develop her business with the financing support of MFO “KMF“. Compensation under the GEFF program could be obtained in full before repayment of the loan and could be used for any purpose.

Green Technology Selector is an electronic catalog of Kazakhstan and foreign technologies.
After successful verification, 10% or 15% of the loan or investment in energy-efficient modernization can be compensated. The compensation is calculated from the lower amount. At the time of verification, the credit should not be repaid. Compensations are paid every month for all applications which are successfully verified and confirmed in the previous month.
