She purchased a Bosch boiler for 230,000 tenge, which became the backbone of her grocery store’s heating system. 10 per cent of the invested amount returned to Janerke as incentives under the GEFF program.
She was previously involved in animal husbandry. After the change of activity, she continued successful cooperation with the KMF financial organization, the EBRD partner of the GEFF program in Kazakhstan, and has been using an opportunity of profitable purchase of high-quality and energy-efficient equipment.” I have carefully chosen the boiler’s model according to appropriate characteristics and the area of my store. From submission of an application to the purchase of a boiler and the payment of incentives, all procedure took three weeks”, said the businesswoman. Further, she plans to buy refrigerators for her store under the GEFF program.

10% or 15% of the loan or investment in the energy efficient technology can be compensated after successful verification. The compensation is calculated based on the lower amount. The compensations are paid on a monthly basis following applications which were successfully verified and confirmed in the previous month.

GEFF programme is a part an ambitious plan of the EBRD to enhance the climate and environmental financing under the Green Economy Transition (GET) approach. By 2025, the goal is to bring green financing up to 50% of the EBRD annual investment output with a particular focus on gender issues.
The GEFF programme is working through a network of more than 155 financial institutions across 27 countries of the EBRD operation. The total amount of the EBRD investments under the GEFF programme has reached 5 billion EUR, benefiting 202 thousand clients. The implemented projects avoided 9 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. Over the course of the EBRD activity, it was implemented 276 projects and invested around 8.6 billion EUR into the economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
