Residents of Osh were familiarized with the results of the KyrSEFF Program during the business fair “Innovation Start – Open Day” in Osh.
KyrSEFF’s financial expert Bakyt Askarbekov spoke about the successful cases of the KyrSEFF Sustainable Energy Financing Program, namely the tourist facilities of the republic, where energy-efficient measures were introduced. In addition, he announced new funding opportunities for the KyrSEFF III program, which started in 2023 and will last 5 years.
The fair was attended by representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), international organizations involved in the development of small and medium businesses, the JIA business association and the Club of Business Consultants, commercial banks, and many others.
The purpose of the fair is to create a platform for entrepreneurs in the south of Kyrgyzstan to receive information about market opportunities, offer innovative solutions to entrepreneurs in the south of Kyrgyzstan, and improve the access of entrepreneurs in the south of Kyrgyzstan to information on public services, investments, consultations, and grants. Bakyt Askarbekov told the guests of the exhibition that during the period of the program in KyrSEFF (2013-2022) 3,355 projects were supported for a total amount of more than 55 million US dollars in the residential and commercial sectors for building insulation, installation of energy-saving technologies and renewable energy technologies, replacement of energy-intensive technological equipment, and water conservation.
Significant results have been achieved, such as electricity savings of about 200 million kWh per year; a reduction in CO2 emissions by 67 thousand tons per year; and water savings of more than 163 thousand m3 per year. Thanks to these measures, domestic hotels, restaurants, and cafes have made their contribution to environmental protection, thereby contributing to the development of sustainable tourism.
